Entrepreneur Raymond Melouney
founded Lee-Chem Laboratories in
1962. Born in Australia in 1924,
Raymond joined the Australian Air
Force and was stationed in Canada
and Nassau during World War 2.

After the war, he moved to
South Africa to marry and settled
his new family in Durban, KwaZulu-
Natal. There he embarked on a
journey that has become the very
essence of his life – he started a
company that distributed beauty
aides and gift items.

This small company soon evolved into a well-respected
depilatory specialist supplying the whole of South Africa and
many other countries around the globe.

At 83 years of age, Raymond is still actively and
enthusiastically involved at Lee-Chem Laboratories.
His seven children have a great commitment to the
company and help to maintain the strict ethos of superior
quality and service excellence, the good, traditional values
upon which the company was originally founded.
